ANGEL TREE SOCIETY
The Angel Tree Society assists families with children who have been referred to Riley Hospital for Children for testing and/or treatment. Families in our community who are in need of financial move up to assistance while their child is being treated at Riley. Many qualify for assistance from the Angel Tree Society. Some of these needs may include food, gasoline, and/or lodging.
If you are not familiar with the work of the Angel Tree Society, the following brief history is to acquaint you with who we are and what we are about:
Several years ago, our church became aware of the need children and families in our community have for financial assistance with helping children who are patients at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. The commitment to help such families resulted in the first fund raiser in 1990. Christ Church works all year on making a large variety of angels which are sold usually beginning in the fall of the year. In recent years, concerts, dinners, and an annual banquet have been added as fundraisers. ALL monies received from the sale of the angels go to those families as described above. Through the efforts of the members of our church who are unpaid volunteers, and the support of our church and community who purchase the angels, we have grown financially each year.
If you have children who have been referred to Riley Hospital, or will possibly be referred in the future, please note the following procedures which aid families who will need financial assistance during their child's treatment at Riley's. To date, the Society has helped over (1500) families with the Social Service Departments at St. Mary's and Deaconess Hospitals along with (21) other health and social service agencies. These departments have ANGEL TREE VOUCHERS which are available upon request. The referring doctor must sign (or have a designated person to do so) the voucher form. The family going to Riley's must take the form with them and, upon arrival at Riley's, go immediately to the Emergency Room Reception Desk, handing the voucher to personnel at the desk. They will then be given $100 to use at their discretion for their needs. No questions are asked, but no funds will be distributed without receipt of the voucher. There are no application forms for the family or doctor to fill out and no waiting periods for processing requests. Completion of the voucher form is the only requirement.
