Riley Angel Tree Mission
The Riley Angel Tree Mission assists families in our community whose children have been referred to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis for diagnosis and/or treatment. These families may qualify for assistance from the Riley Angel Tree Mission for such needs as food, gasoline, or lodging.
Several years ago, Christ Church United Church of Christ saw a need to help these families and held their first fund raiser in 1990. The amount raised has grown each year and ALL monies raised go to those needy families. The Mission gets its name from the Angel decorations, ornaments, and accessories made all year long by members of Christ Church who are unpaid volunteers. These "Angels" are sold throughout the year at craft shows and during the fall season at Christ Church. In recent years, banquets, musical events, and other fund raisers have been added.
Working together with the Rehabilitation Center and the Social Service Department of Deaconess and St. Mary's Hospitals and other agencies (21 agencies in all), the Riley Angel Tree Mission has already aided over 5,700 families. Once a family is referred by a hospital to the Mission, they receive a voucher. Upon reaching Riley Hospital, that voucher can be turned in for $50 to be used by that family at their discretion. There are no forms or questionnaires to fill out. If you have questions about Angel Tree or would like to purchase Angels, please call 812.476.4919.
